Homemade Chai Latte

With the chilly weather setting in, a nice warm coffee or tea is always nice.  A steaming cup of chai always sounds like a good idea!  The trouble is real chai can be a time-consuming item to make in small batches and it really tastes best when made fresh so making it every day before work is not an option.  Rather than spend $5 at Starbucks you can make one at home!  I use vegan ingredients but you can certainly sub in milk products if you choose to.

Start with one cup of soy milk (can sub in skim here), add several teaspoons of soy creamer (can use 1/2 n 1/2) and several teaspoons of water.  Microwave in an appropriate mug for about 2 minutes.  Place two Tazo Organic Chai bags and steep for several minutes.  Make sure to wring the bags out so that the color of the tea ends up to be a nice tan.

You can add some sort of sweetener if you'd like and even make it a bit fancier by using a milk frother to turn it into a real latte!

Your tummy and your wallet will both be happy!  Enjoy!
