Refinished Side Tables

My first official blog project will be the repainting of two bedside tables in one of our guest rooms.  In the photo, you will probably notice the wall color is not a good match for...really anything in the room, but I should warn you, we are renting.  So painting the walls is not really on our radar right now!  Don't mind the lamps, they may end up finding a home, elsewhere in the house...

These two side tables have been around for what seems like forever.  I went through a phase where I though matte black furniture EVERYWHERE in the house would be very chic but am now dabbling with colors and mix&match pieces.  The table on the right is clearly taller than the one on the left because (gasp!) they are obviously not part of a matching set and were picked up at our local YMCA store.  The goal will be to cut down the legs of the table on the right with our jigsaw (pictures to come).  Because we have already finished my husband's childhood dresser with a glossy finish, I am leaning towards using grey DIY chalk paint and clear wax to mix it up a bit.

The hardware on the dresser was replaced with some nice nickel pulls and the replacement hardware for the bedside tables will be coordinated with them.  Here are the before pictures and I will soon update with the finished product and the steps/tricks to achieve it!
